Chenrezig Arts brings together the painters, builders and architects behind the Garden of Enlightenment stupas, and the many traditional Tibetan Buddhist artworks that beautify our centre.
The central hub of Chenrezig Arts is the recently completed Arts Studio. The art studio serves a variety of functions - the mezzanine level is used as a work area for artists to create thangka paintings, decorations and new images suitable for making molds. This area serves as a facility for holding art workshops and courses. Downstairs is a very large work area, both indoors and outdoors, for pouring moulds, casting and assembling holy objects, assembling stupas for the Garden of enlightenment, and many other purposes. At the front of the building is a separate room which will be an office and shop where visitors can stop, have a look around and perhaps purchase some of the things we are making.
There are plans to expand the car-parking, install water features, improve the landscaping, and put a veranda and signage at the front of the building to make it a lot more attractive to passing traffic.
We hope to continue supplying local centers with items for their shops, expanding our range of products and continuing to offer holy objects to all of the regional centers and students, including those in Asia.
The Studio was built on the advice of Lama Zopa Rinpoche, and through funding from the International Merit Box project, donations and interest-free loans. Our deepest thanks go out to all of those people who helped in so many ways!
